Kim Harwell
Reading The Secret in 2006 changed Kim’s life. It introduced him to the Law of
Attraction and ignited an obsession to learn everything he could about the deeper truths
of life. Truths he instinctively knew existed beyond what he learned in school and on the
streets of Detroit.
Kim always believed that certain people had access to specific knowledge that the
masses didn’t. When he first read The Secret, he felt like he had finally found “the
secret.” And in many ways, he had—at least, the beginning of it. That spark of
awareness motivated him to embark on a quest for the key to living a life of complete
abundance—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Kim believes that is how
God created us to live, and when we align with that, we walk in our true purpose. Kim
wanted to understand it because he wanted to live it. If others could have that kind of
fulfillment, why couldn’t he?
What began as motivation soon evolved into inspiration, and eventually, transformation.
Since 2006, Kim has studied and learned from many great philosophers and thought
leaders of the 20th and 21st centuries. One who impacted him deeply was Bob Proctor.
Kim studied his work extensively and had the privilege of meeting him before his
transition to the next level. One of Bob’s mentors was Earl Nightingale. His legendary
recording, The Strangest Secret (1956), was the first spoken-word record to sell over a
million copies and earn Gold Record status. Earl’s “secret” was the same one Rhonda
Byrne introduced fifty years later in The Secret: The Law of Attraction.
Earl Nightingale himself was mentored by the great Napoleon Hill. While Hill is best
known for Think and Grow Rich (1937), few realize he had already written The Law of
Success in 1928—a book that inspired Andrew Carnegie to commission the work that
would change the world. Think and Grow Rich was like Gutenberg’s printing press: it
democratized previously guarded information. Thanks to Carnegie’s vision, Hill gathered
and distilled the success principles of some of the greatest minds in history.
That book led Kim further down the rabbit hole of self-mastery. He discovered The
Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. Written in 1925—just six
years after women won the right to vote—it contained profound wisdom that aligned
with Hill’s teachings. Maybe the world wasn’t ready for a woman sharing such powerful
truth at that time, but her words still reached and transformed millions. For a time, it was
Kim’s favorite book. He is forever grateful to Florence Scovel Shinn for her vision.
Digging deeper, Kim found what he believe to be the foundation of personal
development: The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, published in 1910.
While many assume “rich” only means money, older definitions paint a broader
picture—abundance, productivity, high value, and being well-supplied. That’s how Kim
interprets it, and he knows that Bob Proctor shared that same perspective.
Another powerful influence was Your Forces and How to Use Them by Prentice Mulford,
published in 1888. This book—far ahead of its time—explored themes like spiritual law,
fear, divine connection, and mental mastery. The very ideas modern thinkers, like Kim,
champion today were already articulated by Mulford over a century ago.
The common thread running through all these works is this: spiritual laws and universal
principles are designed to help us live abundant, joyful, healthy, and purposeful lives.
That belief fuels Kim’s life, his work, and his mission.
Kim is truly grateful for all of the many people who have contributed to his journey
through life, joy, pain, prosperity, success, and, yes, failure. There is no success without
failure, and while Kim abhors failure, he sees it as a stepping stone towards success.
Also, Kim would like to thank his detractors. In the “hood,” they call them “haters”. That
is not what they really are. Most of them are just jealous and ignorant because they
probably want and envy something that you have, and are angry because they cannot
have it. Kim has a word for the “haters”. Stop! Kim’s message to them is, “If you see
something someone has that you want, instead of being upset and releasing those toxic
chemicals into your own body, try to approach the situation with love and find out how
they are able to do what they are doing. Love feels much better than hate.”
This is not the end of Kim’s journey. At the age of 64, this has been a long time coming,
and he is just getting started. The word “retirement” isn’t even in his vocabulary. He’s
here to grow, serve, and inspire for the duration. So stay tuned—because as Kim
always says:
“It’s Never Too Late.”
